Multilingual SEO Tips. Part 1
Consider all possibilities.
Living as I do in the conjunction of three countries, namely Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, you can perform search engine optimization (SEO) a challenge. Only in the outskirts of the village work are four languages spoken so if we extrapolate that all possible combinations of search terms, browser settings and configuration of the computer language and then begin to see the magnitude of the problem.
Apart from different search terms and therefore their different sets of keywords objectives, different language each user will have their own set of computer and browser language preference settings that will completely different search results.
As a quick example try searching – consultancy Liege management – in Google.com and Management Consulting fr.OptimaGest Google.be-second is 392,000 on Google.com and 291,000 24th place in Google.be-fr. (Do not worry, still I'm working on the classification Google.be)
So here are some tips I've collected to make your job a little easier.
First set your browser for multilingual search.
Arm yourself with a browser that is configurable profiles. Firefox springs to mind.
Set up a profile for each required language so that their language preference and the preferences of the search engines can be configured.
For Firefox installed with the installer: Make fire is not running. Then open the Windows Start menu, click Run (or Windows key + R) and type: firefox.exe-profilemanager or firefox.exe-P If that does not work (it does on my machine), then you have to type the full path to the firefox.exe in quotes and then switch to the career " box. eg "C: Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox.exe "-profilemanager Mac OS X to launch the Terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal) and type: / Applications / firefox.app / Contents / MacOS / firefox-profilemanager If that fails then include, for example to change the bin: / Applications / Thunderbird.app / Contents / MacOS / thunderbird-bin-profilemanager dialogue will open profile manager and I recommend you keep the "default" profile like this to preserve its current configuration. Click "Create Profile" and follow the instructions. You must create a profile and name for each language and then make sure that "do not ask at startup" option is unchecked. Now normally when you start Firefox profile manager will open and you can select your required profile.
As you start each profile for the first time go to "Tools" then "Options …"," Advanced "tab and click Language option "Choose …" button. Here define the language that this requires special profile and delete the default is-is.
Then open each search engine for example, turn google.be and specify required language preferences, etc. to reflect close as possible to the actual configuration of your target audience will.
Now you can check your search engine rankings without having to reconfigure settings each time for each browser target markets.
Now the problem keywords in multiple languages.
Of course before you can monitor its success must first develop its strategy of words key and is not as straightforward as it seems. We need to carefully research our keywords in each of our markets. It makes no sense OptimaGest Management Consulting be number one in Google.be-nl if chosen keywords are never actually used in Dutch.
My mother tongue is English with an acceptable knowledge German and French small beginnings, so I depend on my French and Dutch translators. But web designers are not in the business of producing perfectly grammatically correct sentences and vocabulary as translators joy in. We're trying to pack an optimum number of search terms or words Relevant key while holding our copy of the message and legible.
In our language we can, with a little research and practice, produce content Web sites that only "shine" with relevant keywords and phrases of leadership in the search results mega. But where to begin in the tongue 2 3 or 4? That will be the subject of my next article.
