Anyone know the recipe for ginger "," style vegetable / shrimp sauce in many Japanese steakhouses?
Two sauces are usually provided for dipping vegetables and seafood. One of them is the orange one brown sauce is a color which I believe contains ginger. I know this immersion brown sauce is not authentic Japanese, more oriented toward Latin culture and tastes. I tried a temple "" style sauce sold in Asian markets, but not exactly the same.
Recipe ginger sauce ingredients: 1 / 2 cup light soy sauce 1 / 4 cup wine vinegar red wine 2 teaspoons chopped ginger 2 tablespoons brown sugar 2 spring onions (green onions, scallions), chopped Preparation: In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, red wine vinegar and minced ginger. Set aside. In a small saucepan, melt the brown sugar over high heat, stirring quickly until just melted but not burned. Add the soy sauce and wine mixture. Bring to boil until brown sugar is melted again (it will harden temporarily after the mixture of soy sauce is added). Remove from heat, pour into a dish and garnish with chopped chives. Serve with potstickers, gyoza or Chinese dumplings. And here There is a link to another Asian dipping sauces http://chinesefood.about.com/od/saucesdipping/index.htm
