What does "assigned" mean?
I'm reading a chapter of the economy and in every place the word 'assign' still appears and I have no idea what it means. Please do not give me a dictionary definition because I looked but I still do not understand. Example: " purpose of this chapter is to assess the ability of markets to allocate resources efficiently and fairly. "What does that mean? Thanks.
