8 Ways to become the strongest candidate in the Labour Market
If you are male or female, 22 or 62 years, lives on the west coast or east, are prepared to handle the challenges posed by the labor market may be the key to professional success. With nearly 2 million people unemployed in the U.S., each person should be more than ready, they must position themselves as the strongest candidate in their field in an attempt to reduce the average of 19 weeks (Bureau of Labor Statistics) which need to get a job.
The turbulent economy has many people fearing for their jobs, in order to use this time as an opportunity to take stock prepared as it would be if you are out of work. If you are planning a career change, are actively seeking work or just make sure it is prepared for any eventuality – Here are eight steps that will help you be the strongest candidate in their field.
1. Strong resume
His professional career history and future plans will determine which style of resume you use (functional, chronological or combination), but whatever the style to remember that your resume is not simply a list of responsibilities but more a record of how well they carried out those responsibilities. A useful method to help you create a strong resume is the mnemonic is CARS. For each job held think of the challenges faced, actions taken, results or outcomes and finally Skills / Strengths that this shows that you have. With this history to create a phrase that speaks of how successful you were in your previous job.
For example,
C – We had to recruit 10 nurses before the opening of a new hospital room four weeks time
A – Worked with team to create shorter change the term of employment, has created a specific team leader to the project and negotiated the purchase of senior managers to sign new recruits.
R – recruited and trained 10 to three weeks, reducing the predicted $ 500k agency spend.
S – Negotiation, team leadership, timing, motivation, intuition and creative problem-solving.
Resume – successfully managed a team that recruited 10 nurses, expedited their training and start date to comply with a term of 1 month, saving the hospital of $ 500K spend at the agency predicted.
2. Cover letter
The letter makes on the points you made in your resume and acts as a supporting statement. The cover letter should be specific to the job or company you are applying. If you do not have a specific job to apply, then browse the website of the company of the person who sent the note and the language they use, consider your vision or mission, and use that language in your letter.
3. Informational interviews
informational interviews are useful for people who know where to go next as well as those who have no idea.
