Social Media. Is it just hype, or is it reality?
The Direct Marketing Association thought to be the real thing. They are even promotion of its annual conference in Myspace: myspace.com/dma07_chicago I'm not sure what to think. And you?
I've been an online networker in a business networking site for just over four years (www.ryze.com) and I get about half of the clients of my business through that site one. But do not be fooled. It is like throwing a MySpace page and suddenly you're flooded with sales. There's more to it than that. Political candidates using social networking sites? Remember that they are doing all sorts of things without connection to the drive online traffic to your site, network, blog whatever. The fact that there was a Democratic debate to the presidency through YouTube is a very good sign that this way of getting exposure is real. But it was not just YouTube – YouTube was in agreement with CNN that brought tons of attention. online strategies work better when they articulate with online strategies. If you are trying to use strategies line, and we're trying to do everything on a shoestring budget, also should be doing things like article marketing, affiliate programs and more. Oh, and have to be to build relationships with people who will come to trust you over time and then maybe they will do business with you. It works – but not instantaneous. The way to get customers is that people may know me online network that I have had for over three years and have worked hard to build an excellent reputation and about 2,000 members. Occasionally someone asks me about my services and I refer you to my site. The site contains a wealth of information about what it's like to work with me and ends with a questionnaire in which they are told that if they answer I will connect with them by email to schedule a one on a phone or skype meeting to answer questions, I tell them my rates, etc. I am very clear about that. Therefore, it takes me a lot – but usually by the time I do get clues are highly qualified by the way I wrote the copy on my website to attract people who are more likely to be serious about working with me and filter which are not.
