Repair and painting of a table? Need some advice?

I have this table in a cute little flee market and needs a little TLC. I know I have to clean very well and then sanded down, but I'm not sure if I use a roller or a brush? Its been painted before it really isn't a wood grain or none of that. There are some little nooks and crannies were a roller to not fit. If I paint the cracks with a brush and then try to get close using a roller to smooth the surface? In addition, the table is really bumpy, maybe water damage and there are some screw holes, maybe a small cabin that was granted above. "I can have a new top trim at Home Depot or Lowes and just attribute it to the top of age with a nail gun or that would be too costly or could just fill in the screw hole with Puddy nails and softens the hope that the surface be?

Fill holes with wood filler, then sand the top also. Start with 60 grit, then 80, then 100. The first use of a manual of good quality as Benjamin Moore Fresh Start. Sand lightly, then use brush for corners and crevices, then rotate the top with a foam roller. Apply two coats of a good quality semi gloss enamel, and the table must look very well. Hope this helps.
