Dealing with absent colleagues?
I am a marketing professional who strives to be the best they can. But for quite some time I have found to lose focus because of poor habits in the office of an employee. This employee is absent from work 8 weeks of the year (two allowed) and when here come in 1-2 hours late, taking two lunch hours and go home early every day, round trip without notice. A typical day this person is talking with other employees and talking on the phone with friends. The habits of this individual make it difficult to work in a team-based environment. This not only affects the moral team, which affects productivity. This behavior is very disappointing for those who work 60 hours a week with a very heavy agenda. Everyone in the office jokes but is not laughing matter. I wrote a letter to our human resources executives six months ago and nothing has changed. Did I mention that this person is a Manager?
Some directors take advantage of their capacity as directors. I do not know if the manager is the salary or not, but they are where I work and I know of a couple of them that take advantage of not having to end clock input and output. I also feel frustrated with a coworker of mine, at the same level as me. But you know what, no matter where you go there be someone else doing the same. So make your job as well as the ability and not worry about what others are doing. It will pay off in the long term. Good luck!
